1. Who we are

AI Accent Coach is operated by aiaccentcoach.com. In this policy, "we", "us" and "our" mean the operator of aiaccentcoach.com, and "you" means anyone using the service.

For data protection purposes we are the controller of the personal data described below.

2. Your voice

This is the part most people care about, so it comes first.

We never store your voice recordings. They never reach our servers.

When you speak, your browser sends audio directly to our speech assessment provider over an encrypted connection. It is analyzed in memory, scored, and discarded. No copy is written to disk, by them or by us.

What we keep is the result of that analysis: numeric scores, the sounds you produced compared with the sounds the sentence required, and which words were involved. That data describes your pronunciation. It does not contain your voice and cannot be used to reconstruct it.

Practically, this means:

Because we do not process your voice for the purpose of uniquely identifying you, we do not treat it as biometric data under Article 9 of the UK and EU GDPR. We do treat it as personal data while it is being processed, and it is deleted the moment scoring finishes.

If we ever introduce a feature that requires storing audio, such as playing your own recordings back to you, that will be optional, clearly explained, and off unless you turn it on.

5. Who we share it with

We use a small number of service providers, each handling only what it needs:

Microsoft Azure (Speech)Scoring pronunciationAudio, in memory only, never stored
AnthropicGenerating your coaching feedbackPronunciation results, no audio, no name or email
ClerkAccounts, sign-in and team membershipAccount data

Each acts as our processor under a data processing agreement and may use your data only on our instructions. We may also disclose data where required by law, or to a buyer if the business is sold, in which case we will tell you first.

6. Cookies

We use only what the service needs to work:

We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking pixels.

Our visitor counting sets no cookies. On our public pages we use PostHog to count visits, so we know which pages people find useful. It is configured to store nothing on your device: no cookies, no browser storage, nothing that survives closing the tab.

Because it cannot recognize you between visits, each visit is counted separately and none of it is linked to you or to an account. That is also why we do not ask you to accept cookies: there are none to accept. It does not run inside the practice app.

7. How long we keep it

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

Contact us at our contact page and we will respond within 30 days. You will not be charged, and using these rights will never affect your service.

If you are in the UK or EU and are unhappy with our response, you may complain to your national data protection authority. If you are in California, we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

9. International transfers

Our providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States. Where data leaves the UK or the European Economic Area, transfers are covered by Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent approved safeguard.

The service is not available in every country. Where we are not permitted to offer it, access is blocked.

10. Age requirement

You must be at least 18 to use AI Accent Coach. The service is not intended for children and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.

If we learn that someone under 18 has created an account, we will close it and delete their data. If you believe a minor has given us personal data, contact our contact page and we will remove it.

11. Security

All traffic is encrypted in transit. Data is encrypted at rest by our hosting providers. Access to production systems is limited to people who need it and protected by multi-factor authentication. We never store full card numbers, and we never store audio.

No system is perfectly secure, but the architecture removes the most sensitive category of data from the equation entirely: there is no library of voice recordings to breach.

If a breach affects your personal data and creates a risk to your rights, we will notify you and the relevant regulator as the law requires.

12. Changes to this policy

If we make a material change we will tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect. The date at the top always reflects the current version.

13. Contact
